The Day I Lost My Memory
By: Sophie
Looking at my home flying into the sky, was incredibly terrifying. The light from the enormous fire ball erupting from the bottom of my house was blinding. I couldn’t believe what was happening. Looking to my right I saw my sister Grace standing on the driveway. I ran to see her shaking.
“Grace, snap out of it!” I screamed over the roaring in my ears. Grace looked at me with her eyes wide open and collapsed in my arms. We both tumbled down onto the asphalt. The last thing I remember was seeing blood streaming from her head.
“Wake up!” I heard my new foster mom calling me down for breakfast. The smell of bacon and eggs filled the crack of my door. It pulled me up to a standing position. where I felt the soft carpet underneath my toes. I knew today was going to be the same, like it always is. But that didn’t mean I couldn’t enjoy my first day of new school. As I was walking the delicious aroma filled my nose and almost made me drool. I heard my foster dad in the garage on his hobby. He was making a toy boat for their adopted son. After he was four his parents died on their way to pick him up, they were ruled adequate to once again parent him. See his parents weren’t the greatest parents of all time. They were neglecting him a lot and social services took them away from them. His name is Thomas.
My name is, well I guess that is not important at this moment in our relationship. You will find out sooner or later. Most people just called me Sam. I don’t have an objection to that, only because I don’t talk. I have stopped talking until I can remember what happened to my my sister. Ever since three weeks ago I can’t remember what happened in the last month of my life. One month, nothing. I can’t stand it, I need to know what happened to Grace. The haunting image of the cherry colored blood coming from her head keeps coming into my mind as I dream. Every night I wake up drenched in my own sweat. The people who found me don’t know why I was hurt. They also don’t know about Grace.
I woke up in a hospital after I passed out. I asked about what happened, but they wouldn’t tell me. I was expecting to see my sister after I was released from the hospital, but I was moved to a foster home. I was so scared. Through all of this I was hoping that Grace would come and rescue me from this nightmare and bring me home with her. I was wrong, grace hadn’t come and I wasn’t expecting her to at this point. It has been few weeks since my house flew into the sky, but the image still haunts me.
“Ky, your breakfast is getting cold.” I hear my new mom call from the kitchen. These words snap my out of my daze and I realize I am standing in the middle of the hallway, staring at the bathroom door.
